Rent a Valheim Server
A world that stays standing whether or not anyone is logged in, from $3.93 a month. Billed monthly, no contract, and the world files stay yours to download whenever you like.
Why rent rather than host it yourself
The usual reason is not capability, it is availability. A world hosted from one player’s PC only exists while that player is awake and at their desk, which turns every session into a scheduling problem and makes one person’s hard drive the single copy of everyone’s progress.
A rented server removes both problems at once. It also removes the parts of self-hosting nobody enjoys: running steamcmd after every patch, writing a service unit, remembering to test the backups. If you want to know exactly what you are handing over, the self-hosting guide walks through the whole job honestly.

Which tier do you actually need?
Size by the world, not the group — this is the thing most people get wrong. Valheim’s memory use grows with how much has been BUILT and how far the map has been EXPLORED, not with how many players are online. Two people on a world that has been running since launch can need more memory than five people on a world started last week.
So: a fresh world is comfortable on the smallest tier. A world with substantial bases, a lot of tamed creatures, several outposts and most of the map uncovered wants the largest. If you are running mods, start one tier higher than you otherwise would.
Every tier holds the same 10 players
The slot numbers in the plan names are labels, not caps we enforce. Valheim itself limits every dedicated server to 10 concurrent players, on any hardware and at any host, so no plan anywhere can exceed it. What you are choosing between is the memory behind the world.

Bringing an existing world across
Unusually easy for this game. A Valheim world is two files — a.dbholding the world and a.fwlholding its seed and metadata. Upload both into the world folder from the panel, set the world name to match, and the server loads it on the next start.
There is no database to dump, no licence key to transfer and no server identity to lose. Take a copy before you begin, and do not upload over a world while the server is running.
What happens if you stop
Billing is monthly, so you stop by not renewing. Download the world files and any backups you want first and you keep everything that made the world yours — the entire game state travels as two small files, so there is nothing here to be locked out of.

Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to rent a Valheim server?
On Flux it starts at $3.93 a month for 4GB and 2 vCores, $5.31 for 6GB, and $6.91 for 8GB and 4 vCores, billed monthly with no contract. Hourly backups and crossplay are included in every tier rather than charged separately.
Which plan do I need?
Size by the world rather than the group. A fresh world with a handful of vikings is fine on the smallest tier; a world that has been running for months with large bases, many tamed creatures and most of the map explored wants the 8GB one. All three reach Valheim’s ten-player ceiling.
Can more than ten players join?
No, and no host can change that. Ten concurrent players is Valheim’s own limit, enforced by the dedicated server whatever hardware it runs on. If you need more, you need a second world rather than a bigger plan.
Can I move an existing world to a rented server?
Yes. A Valheim world is a .db and a .fwl file. Upload both into the world folder from the panel, set the world name to match, and the server loads it on next start. There is no database to import and no key to transfer.
What happens if I want to stop?
Billing is monthly, so you stop by not renewing. Download the world files and any backups you want first and you keep everything — the whole world travels as two files, so there is nothing to be locked out of.
